Your Bridal Style

11 Jan

Here are a few things you need to know about Bridal Fashion and Accessories before deciding on your bridal style, gown or bridesmaids wear.

Your wedding gown is something you’ve dreamt about since getting engaged (and even before that). Buying the dress is an exciting event, just can also be a frustrating one!  Here are some tips to make your decision making easier:

  • Remember that your wedding gown should fit the venue you have chosen, and your overall wedding style. It’s best to have the season, wedding theme, and overall event feel determined before you decide on the dress.
  • When trying on dresses, focus on fit, not size. Bridalwear runs smaller than ready-to-wear.  Don’t focus on the number (which is never easy for us girls), but focus on the feel instead.
  • The silhouette most flattering on you might not be the one you think. Trust the experts to help you find the best one for you. Remember, every dress looks different on you than it does on the hanger. Think outside the box, and try on dresses you would normally never try!
  • Your dress should look good and feel good – whether you are dancing, sitting, or standing.
  • When shopping for your wedding gown, keep an open mind but wait for the one you absolutely love. Just like you did for your groom!
  • Allot enough time for alterations and customization of your dress. It may take longer than you think. (It can take up to 12 weeks for an ordered dress to arrive, that’s in addition to the time needed for alterations.)
  • Make sure you try on the dress after the very last alteration appointment. You don’t want any surprises on your wedding day!
  • Consult experts on how to transport, or store your wedding dress before the big day, as well as how to clean and preserve it afterward.

  • Shoes bring drama to a bride’s ensemble. Pay attention to the toe, as it will peek out from beneath your dress.
  • Always consider the style of your wedding gown when selecting your veil or headpiece.
  • For your big day, invest in lingerie as breathtakingly beautiful as it is functional. You should feel equally beautiful on every layer!
  • Sometimes the simplest touches are the most personal. Embroider your monogram into the lining of your gown for a sweet detail.

  • Remember that your attendants come in all shapes and sizes. A very popular trend in to let each bridesmaid select a style complimentary to her in the shade you have chosen. Remember, if your bridesmaids look beautiful, your pictures will too!
  • Today’s bridesmaids dresses come in every color you could imagine! Whether you dress your bridal party in one color, multiple shades of the same color, or several different colors entirely, choose colors that you love and that go with your venue.
