Jennifer Campbell and Zac Anderson
October 28, 2012
Burlington, North Carolina

Jennifer and Zac are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. Jennifer, a nurse at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, is a generous caretaker with the needed spunk. Zac is a quiet and soft-spoken man that just stares at Jennifer with amazement, hanging on her every word. They are so sweet together, holding hands and speaking gently to each other. It seems as though they would have been together forever from the way they finished each other’s sentences and told stories as a couple. When I asked them how they met, I wasn’t surprised to find that they met on e-Harmony when Jennifer was in Nursing School. They did a long distance relationship for the first year of their relationship and then Jennifer finally moved to Winston-Salem, where Zac was waiting for her. It truly was a match made in e-heaven.

This makes the third e-harmony wedding I have done and I am a true believer that it doesn’t matter how you meet…. as long as you meet. There are greater things at work when two soul mates find each other, and you have to open yourself up to the possibility that they are right around the next corner. I commend these folks for taking a chance online and finding happiness!

When I first met with Jennifer & Zac in July of 2012…  it was no surprise to hear that they had picked a date and nothing else. This is where most couples start. It was a surprise that the date was just 3 months away, in October of 2012. This had to be the date because the father of the Bride, who works for a security company in Iraq, was planned to be home that weekend, and what a perfect time to get married…. With her Daddy walking her down the aisle. If that isn’t a perfect reason to plan a wedding in 3 months, what is?

I am extremely good at planning events in very short amounts of time. It helps you to make decisions easily, get better deals from vendors and go with the flow a bit more. I was thrilled to help Jennifer and Zac plan their dream wedding and couldn’t wait to get started. Jennifer was very good at being decisive (I guess that’s the nurse in her) and we had done most the planning in a two-week period! All that was left were the details…. which is where I live. J

Set at a beautiful farm in Burlington, Starlight Meadow was the perfect venue for Jennifer and Zac. It was a rustic, downhome piece of land that had a ceremony setup in a meadow and a reception setup in the barn. What a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful North Carolina colors, surrounded by trees, land and open space! Given that it was typical North Carolina weather, there was a little chill in the air.

We designed a wedding that would be casual, comfortable and welcoming… just what the couple wanted for their family and friends. The walkway was lined with pumpkins that led the guests to the beautiful meadow ceremony site. Tree stumps lined the aisle with lanterns filled with wild flowers. Tree branches, tables and décor at the front were casual in design and fit the gazebo perfectly. Flowers by Candlelight did a great job in designing a farm wedding.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed yard games, including horseshoes and corn hole. Iron Hen (Fresh. Local. Good. Catering Group) passed Chili shooters and guests were welcomed to the hot chocolate bar (Apple Cider was also available) to warm them up! Starlight Meadow had equipped the barn with heaters, so the guests could be comfortable.

For the reception, we placed the tables to intersect each other, forming a huge cross. This was done so the guests would feel inclusive and people could get to know each other! I loved this idea because it felt like a big family get together…. Which is exactly what it was. There were crates, candles, wildflowers and jars…. And it all created a warm and welcoming environment.

Dinner was filled with nothing less than North Carolina comfort food. A Make-your-own Mashed potato bar, BBQ sliders, chicken sliders, sweet carrots and a make-your-own- Mac n cheese-bar were a hit (who doesn’t love carbs?).

Jennifer and Zac decided to do a dessert table, filled with individual-sized favorites for their guest to enjoy. There was Banana Pudding Shooters, Caramel Crunch Shooters, Mini Apple Pies & Mini Cheesecakes. Simply Scrumptious in Greensboro did a phenomenal job at making these precious mini favorites! There was also a SMORE Bar, fired up after dinner for the roasting to begin.

As a favor, guests were invited to take Make-your-own-hot chocolate, M&M’s and chocolate covered stirring spoons. Guests were also invited to take a pumpkin from the “patch” to celebrate Halloween, just 3 days later!

As Jennifer and Zac ran through the sparkler exit, I could help but feel a little sad to no longer be working with them. They are a wonderful couple, and we wish nothing but happiness, joy and laughter for Jennifer and Zac and their amazing families and friends.

It was a fun evening and we were so lucky to be a part of this family’s celebration.
