0009 c&b 10.13 sm0012 c&b 10.13 smWe designed a wedding that would be casual, comfortable and welcoming… a true southern soiree for a couple raised in small town, Carolina. It was just what the couple wanted for their family and friends.

0634 c&b 10.13 smCourtney and Brice were true high school sweethearts. After 7 ½ years together, Courtney and Brice were standing at the alter to become husband and wife. As cute as they can be, Courtney teaches middle school art and Brice works for a family trucking business as well as serving in the Air National Guard.0060 c&b 10.13 sm

The ceremony sat on the large sprawling farmland of the Petty Family (Richard Petty, racing legend), now known as Adaumont Farm. As you drive through the large iron gates and over the stone bridge on the tree-lined road, it’s something out of a movie. You notice beautiful white fencing holding grazing horses, large trees that have been on the land for a long time and nothing but the North Carolina sky! The ceremony was on a lovely piece of this land that overlooks the beautiful lake and quant covered bridge, under the wooden pergola. As her mother walked the beautiful bride down the long grassy aisle, the sun gave her a stunning glow…. or perhaps she was just a blushing bride. Continue reading

THE WAIT IS OVER! Ultimate Cocktail Hour: The Photo Shoot!

14 Jul

I help couples start their life together with a happy memory! It’s a bonus when I get to share my passion with the readers of a beautiful magazine.

One of the aspects of the wedding day that I enjoy planning for is the cocktail hour. It’s that awkward hour between the ceremony and the reception where your guests are left to wait. It’s also an opportunity to do something fun and different!

_MG_0151SMI was honored to be able to share my planning tips for an AWESOME cocktail hour with the readers of the newly released issue of TriadWedding’s Magazine. And just for the fun if of it, I planned a photo shoot to go along with the article to show some of the tips.

Jennifer Campbell and Zac Anderson
October 28, 2012
Burlington, North Carolina

Jennifer and Zac are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. Jennifer, a nurse at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, is a generous caretaker with the needed spunk. Zac is a quiet and soft-spoken man that just stares at Jennifer with amazement, hanging on her every word. They are so sweet together, holding hands and speaking gently to each other. It seems as though they would have been together forever from the way they finished each other’s sentences and told stories as a couple. When I asked them how they met, I wasn’t surprised to find that they met on e-Harmony when Jennifer was in Nursing School. They did a long distance relationship for the first year of their relationship and then Jennifer finally moved to Winston-Salem, where Zac was waiting for her. It truly was a match made in e-heaven.

This makes the third e-harmony wedding I have done and I am a true believer that it doesn’t matter how you meet…. as long as you meet. There are greater things at work when two soul mates find each other, and you have to open yourself up to the possibility that they are right around the next corner. I commend these folks for taking a chance online and finding happiness!

When I first met with Jennifer & Zac in July of 2012…  it was no surprise to hear that they had picked a date and nothing else. This is where most couples start. It was a surprise that the date was just 3 months away, in October of 2012. This had to be the date because the father of the Bride, who works for a security company in Iraq, was planned to be home that weekend, and what a perfect time to get married…. With her Daddy walking her down the aisle. If that isn’t a perfect reason to plan a wedding in 3 months, what is? Continue reading

Ashlee & Ryan: Married!

13 Nov

At first meeting Ashlee and her Mom, Carolyn, at a local Panera I was instantly excited to be helping them plan their wedding. The fun relationship I saw between mother and daughter reminded me so much of my own relationship with my Mom and I could tell that this would be a fun and beautiful wedding in the Spring of 2012.

Ashlee had an idea of how she wanted her guest to feel at her wedding. She wanted it to be full of love and very elegant with playful touches throughout the evening.  We had heard the romantic stories of her Groom, whom flew to Paris to surprise her with a proposal at the Eiffel Tower! We knew we would love him! Upon meeting Ryan, we could see instantly that he just wanted Ashlee to be happy and for them to enjoy their night.

We had a group of stellar vendors helping us with this event and it turned out as beautiful and even more luxurious than we could have imagined at that first meeting. Huge White Rose Balls lined the ceremony aisle. Orchids adorned the reception hall. It was a magical night.

These were the kind of clients that we thoroughly enjoyed working with. I look forward to following their married life and seeing the family they create with their love. We were honored to be a part.

Thank you to Bo’s Photography for providing these beautiful photos of their wedding.

Rebecca + André Married

16 Oct

From the moment that Rebecca first called me to inquire about our services, we clicked. Within 24 hours, she was a client and we were on our way to planning the logistics of her big day. Since Rebecca and André both live and work in New York, we did a lot of planning over the phone, via email, and during her few trips to Greensboro.

We decided early on that we needed Lisa from Flowers by Candlelight on our team to make this wedding totally unique and beautiful. We quickly came up with the style of the day. Tea was a part of the bride’s life growing up and we instantly fell in love with the idea of a Garden Tea Party… with beautiful, rich, vibrant colors and classic elegance.

Lisa did a great job, adding beautiful candlelight to the Bride’s childhood church, and adorning the tables with antiqued gold vases, full of rich blooms. There were classic linens, gold chairs and the flicker of candlelight. We featured the bride’s mother’s tea set as part of the reception and guests were sent home with Earl Grey Tea.

It was a beautiful day for a lovely couple and I feel so blessed to have been a part of their day. Thank you VanderVeen Photography for sharing these beautiful photos with us!

Jaime + Justin: Married in Downtown Greensboro

1 Oct

Jaime + Justin

Jamie was a dream bride for a wedding coordinator. From the first time Kat and I sat across from her at Coffeeology on Tate Street, we knew this would be a bride that we would end up calling a friend. Sitting a spell with her having coffee just felt like reminiscing with an old friend.

Jamie, as one of her many positive attributes, puts anyone in her presence at ease and wanted her wedding to have the same ambiance.  So we were off with a “laid back, wildflower, cool breeze, butterfly kisses” kind of theme. Continue reading

Celebrate the Small Things (and The Big Things) in Life!

20 Feb

I believe in celebrating the little things in life… life is just too short not to!  I believe that when you have family and friends surrounding you … every moment you spend with them is a celebration. As an event planner, I am always so thrilled to be invited to be a part of my client’s special moments…. For I understand and appreciate how personal those moments are.  It is in those moments, that we weave together memories that become engrained into our history, as an individual and as a family.

In my own life, I love celebrating milestones with my wonderful family and friends… and like to share them with all of you. This past weekend, we hosted a celebration for a special event in my life, my son Matthew was baptized. For us Catholics, this is a BIG celebration and so we threw quite a party… hey, why not?

After the baptism, we did a small dove release thanks to Wings of Love. The scripture tells about how God came down as a Dove…. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’” The beautiful doves from Wings of Love was such a special celebration for us… and it made it just a little more special!
