As cute as they can be, Courtney teaches middle school art and Brice works for a family trucking business as well as serving in the Air National Guard.0060 c&b 10.13 sm

The ceremony sat on the large sprawling farmland of the Petty Family (Richard Petty, racing legend), now known as Adaumont Farm. As you drive through the large iron gates and over the stone bridge on the tree-lined road, it’s something out of a movie. You notice beautiful white fencing holding grazing horses, large trees that have been on the land for a long time and nothing but the North Carolina sky! The ceremony was on a lovely piece of this land that overlooks the beautiful lake and quant covered bridge, under the wooden pergola. As her mother walked the beautiful bride down the long grassy aisle, the sun gave her a stunning glow…. or perhaps she was just a blushing bride. Continue reading

Real Wedding: Michael and Gabbi

4 Jan

I know I am way behind on posting this Castle McCulloch wedding from July 2011… but better late than never, right?

Michael and Gabbi are two of the most original people I have ever met. They are both very creative and unique and I knew as soon as I met them that I would love helping them on their wedding day.

I met with Gabbi a year before she decided to hire me. She did much of the planning and then quickly got overwhelmed and knew she needed some help for the wedding…. Sound familiar? It happens all the time!

Held at Castle McCullough, their wedding was full of personal touches…including centerpieces that the bride and groom made themselves as well as potted plants as wedding favors! Their wedding was “green” and the guests had a wonderful time. The castle was decked out with wrapped vines and a potted tree for their “Tree Ceremony”. The girls all wore 1940’s inspired hair do’s and the guys were looking good in their fedoras…. Did I mention how unique this couple was?

The couple’s family was wonderful as well. The bride’s father, a fire fighter, did a lot of the outside décor for dinner and the groom’s mother hired us to also take care of the rehearsal dinner at Steak Street.

It was a wonderful weekend that we enjoyed being a part of.

Congrats Gabbi and Michael, Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day!

My Beautiful Wedding

When Jason offered to walk Andrea back to her dorm after meeting at a Halloween party during their freshmen year at Pfeiffer University, they knew that it was “it”… and so began their “happily ever after”. When they hired us to come aboard, it was still early in the engagement and we got to know them very well over the course of many, many months. We shared nachos at Moes! and latte’s at Starbucks as we went over linens, colors, menus, music, and so on…. we are so thankful to have been part of their process and wish them well ! Here is their wedding story ….. Jason and Andrea had a very clear vision of what they wanted on their wedding day, a personal, special and intimate celebration.

The flowers, from Flowers By Candlelight , were simple and stunning.

The pure white buds and the flicker of the candles added to the ambiance at their elegant Black & White Affair. Continue reading

{Andrew and Sara: June 12, 2010}

It Started With Thunderstorms!

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Laws! Saturday started off very cloudy with scattered thunder storms. As the sky turned black, we were crossing our fingers that the weather would hold out long enough for Sara and Andrew to exchange vows at Belmont Estate in Reidsville. The rain started 3 hours before the ceremony, but luck was on our side because it cleared out just in time for the wedding. With the rain, came cooler temperatures, so it was a blessing in disguise!

Sara and Andrew exchanged vows in front of family and friends in a beautiful outdoor pavilion. Once the nuptials were done, guests were treated to appetizers and “old timey” games on the estate’s huge front porch (one of the many luxuries of a 100-year-old historic home). Sara’s mom designed beautiful centerpieces that were handmade flower boxes with lanterns and photos. It went with the venue perfectly and was truly unique.

Great food from Visions Catering was served, followed by some delicious cake from Maxie B’s in Greensboro. All of it was captured by Amy Terrell of Simple Moments Photography.

It was a great day for an amazing couple. Sara and Andrew, along with their families, were so kind…. we are thankful to have had the pleasure of working with them! We wish Sara and Andrew many many years of happiness. Thank you so much for allowing Merrymaking Events to be a part of such an important day! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Laws!
